The mouse is modest.
I got free tickets to the Modest Mouse concert at the Palladium tuesday night. It was incredible to see them live again! It's sad for me to admit that I've definitely been slacking on my MM listening. I wish that my computers hadn't crashed on me twice and that I still had all my music. Seeing as how I scored the tickets for free I'm going to spend that extra dinero on downloading an album or two from iTunes. Check out the set list from the show and a few pics I snapped on my broken camera.

DIY
Current DIY projects that I'm interested in...
- Shredding t-shirts - I've already done one shirt and it turned out great! I'll have to take a picture to post up. I'm currently working on trying to jazz up a USC shirt that is too small for me. Since the shredding makes the shirt larger, I'm hoping it will help. Thanks to Childhood Flames for the awesome idea.
- Tie dye!! - Call me a hippie, but I've always loved tie dye. Bright colors and patterns are a trend for the S/S '09, so I don't think I'm too out of touch with the world and even if I was...who cares.
...this is a tribute...
I can listen to this song on repeat. I love the whole album actually. It's the epitome of emo angstyness and it reminds me of when I went through the awkward phases of my life aka high school and the first two years of college. Not to say that I'm not still awkward, but moreso during those very long six years of my life. How great would it be to live the life of Benjamin Button? You start old and serious, then you get to end up carefree and happy about simple things in life like butterflies and chocolate cake.
"Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't" - Brand New, Deja Entendu
i am heaven sent,
don't you dare forget.
i am all you've ever wanted,
what all the other boys all promised.
sorry i told. i just needed you to know.
i think in decimals and dollars.
i am the cause to all your problems,
shelter from cold. we are never alone.
coordinate brain and mouth.
then ask me whats it like to have
myself so figured out.
i wish i knew..
i hope this song starts a craze.
the kind of song that ignites the airwaves.
the kind of song that makes people glad
to be where they are,
with whoever they're there with.
this is war.
every line is about,
who i don't wanna write about anymore.
hope you come down with something
they can't diagnose, don't have the cure for.
holding on to your grudge.
oh its so hard to have someone to love.
and keeping quiet is hard.
cuz you cant keep a secret
if it never was a secret to start.
at least pretend you didn't wanna get caught..
we're concentrating on falling apart.
we were contenders, we're throwing the fight
but i just wanna believe, i just wanna believe,
i just wanna believe, in us.
Oh, we're so c-c-c-c-c-controversial.
we are entirely smooth.
we admit to the truth,
we are the best at what we do.
and these are the words you wish you wrote down.
this is the way you wish your voice sounds,
handsome and smart.
oh my tongue's the only muscle on my body
that works harder than my heart.
and its all from watching tv,
and from speeding up my breathing.
wouldnt stop if i could.
oh it hurts to be this good.
you're holding on to your grudge.
oh it hurts to always have to be honest
with the one that you love.
oh, so let it go..
we're concentrating on falling apart.
we were contenders, we're throwing the fight
but i just wanna believe, i just wanna believe,
i just wanna believe.
we're concentrating on falling apart.
we were contenders, we're throwing the fight
but i just wanna believe, i just wanna believe,
i just wanna believe, in us.
this is the grace that only we can bestow.
this is the price you pay for loss of control.
this is the break in the bend,
this is the closest of calls.
this is the reason your alone,
this is the rise and the fall.
we're concentrating on falling apart.
we were contenders, we're throwing the fight
but i just wanna believe, i just wanna believe,
i just wanna believe.
we're concentrating on falling apart.
we were contenders, we're throwing the fight
but i just wanna believe, i just wanna believe,
i just wanna believe, in us.

Not the velveteen rabbit
Really?! WTF were you thinking Susan Sarandon... Just because you're old doesn't mean you have to dress dowdy. The dress looks like she pulled the curtains off the wall and draped it around her. Also, the shoes are probably the most egregious fashion choice. Yuck.
I've personally never been a huge fan of crushed velvet anything, but lately it's starting to grow on me. I found a "vintage" crushed velvet black dress today at American Vintage. I didn't try it on before purchasing because for some reason I just had to have it. It'll probably end up being one of those pieces that I keep stowed away deep in the closet for many years to come. I went shopping for old t-shirts that I could shred and I ended up with the velvet dress, a hawaiian/hibiscus print nurse's scrub top, a pair of glasses and a white and red stone ring. Still working out the whole budgeting thing.

Sunset/Downtown
View of downtown from the office. The photo doesn't show the true colors of dusk very well, but trust me it's gorgeous. I want to edit this, but alas I'm not really sure what to do with it just yet. The office has become a temporary home for me until this craziness at work subsides. Last night my excel workbook crashed on me and now I get to spend an extra hour reformatting the whole thing. Joy of all joys!
